Letter from George Bryan, Vice-president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, to the corporation regarding the political case of Reverend Mr. Coombe. Bryan warns the corporation that their support for Coombe could draw imputations upon them, and informs them that the Council had already decided to send Coombe and other prisoners away regardless of his connection to the congregation.

In this letter dated September 9, 1777, written in Council at Philadelphia, George Bryan, Vice-president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, addresses the Corporation of the Rector, Church Wardens, and Vestry-men of the United Episcopal Churches of Christ Church and St. Peter's Church concerning the Reverend Mr. Coombe [p. 1r]. Bryan expresses concern that Council had read the corporation's address regarding Coombe, stating that "His case is wholly political" and that Council would be sorry should the corporation draw imputations on them by this application [p. 1r]. He informs the corporation that Council had already determined, before receiving their piece, to send away Mr. Coombe and the rest of the prisoners, and that Coombe's connection with the congregation could be no argument in his behalf [p. 1r]. The letter closes with Bryan's respectful signature as Vice-president. The verso of the leaf contains no text [p. 1v].
