Abstract
In this document dated April 6, 1776, Richard Peters, late Rector of the United Congregations of Christ Church and St. Peter's Churches, formally remises and quits claim to all demands and requests he had against the said Churches, giving them a full release [p. 1r]. He states that he does this in accordance with a solemn promise made in Vestry immediately before his resignation [p. 1r]. In turn, he expects the Churches to pay and exonerate him from a bond he entered into on their account with the Academy of the City, except for forty pounds sterling and the interest thereon, which was paid off the previous year [p. 1v]. The document is signed and dated the sixth day of April 1776 [p. 1v]. An inverted, faint draft of the same release text appears on the verso [p. 1v].
