Abstract

Letter from the Office of Christ Church Hospital, dated November 5, 1872, in which Secretary George E. Hoffman informs the rector, church wardens, and vestrymen of Christ Church that the hospital managers adopted a preamble and resolution at their meeting of November 4 [p. 1r]. The resolution concerns Anna Tonse, a hospital inmate who died April 14, 1871, and who had approximately $120 to her credit in the Philadelphia Savings Fund [p. 1r]. Because the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society was willing to pay the money to the hospital upon receipt of a proper bond of indemnity, the managers requested that the Christ Church vestry empower Warden Charles K. Wheeler to attach the church seal to such a bond [p. 1r-p. 1v].
