Abstract
In this letter dated July 6, 1805, from Philadelphia, James Abercrombie writes to Thomas Cumpston to appeal for financial assistance [Image 1]. Abercrombie states that the same necessity which compelled him to address a letter to Cumpston some days earlier now more forcibly urges him to send his son out to Cumpston's country seat to learn the success of his application [Image 1]. He notes that he has refrained from troubling Cumpston as long as he possibly could, but that demands for money have become so very imperious that he is forced to appeal to Cumpston's benevolence for relief [Image 1]. He closes with expressions of great respect and esteem [Image 1].
